Space Frame Construction

They may not be singles speeds but I’ve always had a fascination for these strange bikes. Moulton designed them 50 years ago and borrowed some suspension from the Mini (that he’d also designed) to make them less bumpy (on account of the small wheels).

The thing about the design is it looks even more whacky these days than it did back then, with the small wheels, trellis-like “space frame” construction and front and rear suspension units.

They’re all beautifully handmade (as you can see in the video below) and with so many joins to braze they must be some of the most labour intensive bicycles in existence. Great to see true artisanship in any form and the video below is a great watch. Enjoy.
