Stolen Bike in NYC

My favorite video maker (is there a better term than that?) Casey Neistat has knocked out another great gorilla-style video for us. You might remember Casey from his awesome video about being fined for not riding in the bike lanes of NYC. That video is still one of my favorites and I can return to it for a quick giggle any time I need a pick-me-up.

In this video Casey is solving the parking problems of New York. Well almost. Anyway, go watch it. It’s right here:

If you’ve read anything about New York lately you’ll know they recently got a bike share program. There are plenty of people in New York (and elsewhere) who treat cyclist with the same irrational hatred normally reserved for people who follow a different religion or don’t have sex in the right kinda way. The bike share has brought out the worst in these people, whose efforts to sounds reasonable just make them sounds more lame. Stupid comments like the bikes being ugly (as compared to four lanes of cars) and being contaminated with germs (as opposed to a subway seat) have been met with nods of approval from those too deeply mired in their hate to realize how stupid they look. Of course, the bike share will succeed without them. In a city the size of New York I can think of only one way to make a bike share fail. Compulsory helmets.
